Die steigenden Energiepreise waren für einige spezialisierte Anbauer der Grund für die Entwicklung dieses Sortiments/dieser Anbaumethode. Die Rosen aus diesem Sortiment unterscheiden sich im Vergleich mit anderen Sorten durch die Art der Anbaubedingungen und dem Sortentyp.
Seitlich offene Folienabdeckungen oder sehr einfache Folientunnel mit guter Belüftung werden für die Produktion von Nostalgie- oder Edelsprayrosen benutzt. Beiknospen (Edelspray) können zum Zeitpunkt des Verkaufs die Präsentation und Vermarktung des Produktes verbessern.
Diese Sorten werden hauptsächlich in Mitteleuropa, Nordamerika oder Kolumbien und Ekuador angebaut. Auf Rosa canina Inermis veredelt, sind sie frosthart in der Winterzeit und produzieren drei bis vier Flore im Jahr.
