Summer pruning encourages new shoots to grow
After the first flush of flowers (early/mid-July), the faded individual flowers or umbels should be cut back below the flower, just above a fully developed five-leaflet. To encourage new flower buds to form, fertilise now with an organic-mineral rose fertiliser (we recommend Oscorna® rose fertiliser).
For this fertilisation, use only 2/3 of the recommended amount.
How to increase the winter hardiness of your roses
To help your roses survive the winter, you can apply patent potash (potassium magnesium sulphate) from the end of August to encourage the shoots to harden. Hard shoots are less sensitive to frost.
Water well!
