Povl Balslev wurde 1968 auf Fünen geboren. Er studierte Musik in Amsterdam und legte 1996 sein Examen bei der Royal Academy of Music in Kopenhagen ab. Nach einigen Meisterkursen ist Povl Balslev inzwischen Musikdirektor, Glockenspielmeister und Kantor in der Frauenkirche in Svendborg und Komponist von Musik für Orgel, Klavier, Chor und kleinere Ensembles, ebenso für Theater und Dokumentarfilme. 2014 wurde Balslev mit dem Kulturpreis der Stadt Svendborg ausgezeichnet und ein Jahr darauf erhielt er den Kulturpreis von Fünen.
